President Theodore Roosevelt:

Our 26th President had more animals than the White House had ever seen.

Along with his bear, badger, dogs, and hens he had five guinea pigs, all with rather peculiar names.

President Theodore Roosevelt had guinea pigs named Admiral Dewey, Dr. Johnson, Bishop Doane, Fighting Bob Evans, and Father O’Grady.

Queen Elizabeth I:

As the early European’s returned from South America, they brought with them guinea pigs.

One of the earliest owners was Queen Elizabeth I and her children who also attributed to the increase of popularity in the guinea pig.

A portrait of Elizabethan children was found and dated to have been painted around 1580.

It can now be found at the National Portrait Gallery in central London.
